The original 1970 version, directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, follows the journey of a family of cats who live in Paris with Madame de Bonnefamille, an eccentric millionaire. One day, the latter invites her notary to bequeath all her fortune to her four-legged companions. However, a clause in the will stipulates that when the cats die, his property will go to his butler, Edgar. The latter will then do everything to eliminate the hairy heirs.
