They are billions, and they still don't have internet

The difference in standard of living from one continent to another means that all of humanity is still not connected to the internet.

According to the latest estimates from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU, United Nations agency specializing in information and communication technologies), 2.7 billion people, or a third of the world's population, are not connected to internet. This can contribute to the disinformation of organized populations in certain countries…

Everyone, everywhere?

The overall growth is however significant: 5.3 billion people were connected in 2022 against 4.9 billion in 2021. In the same vein, if 2.7 billion people are still not connected today , they were 2.9 billion last year, and 3.6 billion (nearly half of the world's population) in 2019, before the Covid.

“The Covid19 outbreak has caused an acceleration in connectivity, but we need to maintain this momentum to ensure that everyone, everywhere can benefit from digital services and technologies,” said Houlin Zhao, Secretary General of the 'ITU.
