Netflix acquires a new video game studio

The leader in subscription video streaming continues to consolidate its video game division established last year.

At the end of 2021, the Netflix streaming platform diversified its activity by launching an offer of free mobile video games, reserved for its subscribers. Since then, the platform has acquired several development studios and even set up its own internal structure last September.

The word to Daniel Cook, co-founder of Spry Fox

And the growth of this new pole is not about to slow down since Netflix recently announced the acquisition of an additional studio, Spry Fox, known in particular for Triple Town, Cozy Grove and Alphabear. In total, the armada of development studios flying the Netflix banner now consists of six studios. "When I founded Spry Fox with David Edery 12 years ago, our goal was to create a supportive environment where cool, creative people could develop beautiful, original games that make gamers happy," said Daniel Cook, co-founder of Spry Fox. After many heart-to-heart conversations, we're thrilled to become one of Netflix's in-house game studios to build awesome games with them.”

Talk to Netflix

Netflix added, “We look forward to creating games with a studio whose values (including the constant desire to bring joy to employees and gamers alike) align so well with ours. Our video game journey has only just begun, but I'm proud of the creative foundations we're building to solidify our ability to offer our subscribers the best gaming experience possible, without ads or in-app purchases."
