Supercharger: Apple dreamed it, Tesla did it

Tesla releases a wireless charger capable of charging three devices simultaneously. A project promised by Apple before being abandoned along the way.

Announced at the same time as the iPhone X at the start of the 2017 school year, Apple's AirPower wireless charging base has been repeatedly delayed. We thought we'd see it appear at various Apple events like the announcement of the new 2018 iPhones, but nothing at all. Then the information fell at the end of March 2019, Apple was completely abandoning the product.

The other super-charger

Supposedly in question, problems of overheating of the device due to the proximity of the charging coils. Concerns that Tesla apparently did not experience since the American manufacturer has just released its own charging base, available at an indicative price of $300 and capable of simultaneously charging three Qi-standard wireless devices, with a capacity of 15 W each.

AirPods too

You can thus charge for example an iPhone and AirPods, but not the Apple Watch which uses a modified charging standard. On the design side, Tesla's base is inspired by the angular look of its future Cybertruck pickup with an aluminum exterior and an alcantara surface. A removable magnetic support allows you to tilt the device to continue enjoying your smartphone while charging.
