CES 23 > Samsung Display confirms a 77'' (196 cm) QD Oled Ultra HD 4K TV, over 2,000 nits

Already announced in our columns (see our CES 23 news > QD Oled Ultra HD 4K Samsung 77'' (196 cm) TV unveiled in January…), the QD Oled 77'' (216 cm) TV panel from Samsung Display was confirmed by its creator, two days before the opening of the CES show in Las Vegas 2023.

As a reminder, Samsung Display unveiled last summer at the Bexco (Busan Exhibition and Convention Center) in Busan, South Korea, during the IMID 2022 conference (International Meeting on Information Display) which was held from 23 to 26 August, a 77'' Ultra HD 8K QD Oled prototype (see our news QD Oled Samsung Display 77'' TV panel unveiled at the IMID 2022 conference). However, the panel that will be unveiled at CES 2023 from January 5 and in the brand's catalog for 2023 (and already presented to some European distributors) will be a 4K Ultra HD model.

TV QD Oled UHD 4K Samsung 77'', True Black trademark registration

And as our Korean colleague ET News announced a few weeks ago, this 77'' QD Oled TV will offer even better contrast compared to the Samsung QE55S95B specimens (click to discover the full test of the product by the AVCesar editorial team .com) and Samsung QE65S95B which appeared in 2022, in particular to manage their small defect visible in very rare conditions: in a dark room lit by a fill light, depending on its placement and therefore the angle of light reflection on the screen, the latter may appear purple and the blacks a bit greyed out. As such, we can better understand Samsung's recent "True Black" trademark registration, which will undoubtedly be intended for the brand's QD Oled 2023 TVs.

Samsung Display speaks

Since then, Samsung Display has given via its press release some additional information on its latest product, in particular the value of the peak light, beyond 2,000 nits. “Samsung Display has completed its 2023 QD Oled display lineup with the addition of a 77” Super Large TV, the largest in the QD Oled family which also includes 55”, 65”, 34” screens ' as well as a 49'' (ultra-wide monitor). The products of the 2023 range embed the advanced IntelliSense AI optimization algorithm and the new Oled HyperEfficient EL material (Editor's note: for the blue Oled material) improving the brightness of each RGB color. As a result, the peak brightness of the combined RGB colors becomes over 2,000 nits once again delivering exceptional picture quality,” Samsung Display announced.

For the rest, the equipment of this television will bring together all of Samsung's know-how, namely Smart TV Tizen, Gaming Hub (see our news Samsung 2022 Smart TVs dematerialize PCs and consoles) and of course HDMI 2.1 connectors. More details in a few hours.
