iPhone 16 (or 15?): Invisible Face ID, smaller Dynamic Island

Apple continues to move slowly but surely towards an immaculate iPhone screen, meaning by that completely devoid of visible sensors.

The biggest novelty of the latest iPhone 14 Pro is undoubtedly the disappearance of the front notch in favor of two perforations (camera and Face ID), cleverly “hidden” by the Dynamic Island software trick. Soon, this feature may become even smaller, with the number of perforations dropping to one.

Face ID hidden under the screen with opaque or transparent pixels on demand

Indeed, a patent recently granted to Apple describes a technology to hide the Face ID sensor under the screen. In detail, the screen pixels above Face ID can switch from opaque to transparent as needed. Thus, always in search of offering a screen completely devoid of sensors, its ultimate goal, Apple would "get rid" of Face ID first then, when the technology is satisfactory, it will be the Selfie module which would disappear. Soon we hope. Source: Patently Apple
