Discreetly, Netflix recently lowered the prices of its subscriptions in more than a hundred countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Romania, Egypt and Croatia.
Netflix, price drop from -17% to -50%
The Essential subscription sees its price drop by up to 50%, while the discount reaches 20% for the Standard option, 17% for the Premium and 25% for the mobile version. Note that none of these markets offer the even less expensive option with ads. If the streaming service is bucking the global trend of rising prices, it's apparently to boost the growth of these targeted areas, which currently have just over 10 million subscribers. That's what Netflix's co-CEO -Greg Peters- suggested during the company's latest quarterly earnings announcement.
