The Idol, the series with Lily Rose Depp in Cannes and June 5 on Prime Video

The Idol, the series with Lily Rose Depp, will be broadcast on June 5 on HBO and simultaneously in France via the Warner Pass on Prime Video.

After experiencing disastrous development and post-production with the dismissal of director Amy Seimetz near the end of filming and the takeover in person by Sam Levinson (Euphoria) to make the series even more sulphurous and trashy, The Idol will finally be broadcast in France on June 5.

The new trailer sets the tone: chic glamor and ultra-stylized sexy soft where Lily Rose Depp multiplies lascivious and seductive poses to the rhythm of a retro pop soundtrack.

The official synopsis states: “Following her final tour marred by a nervous breakdown, Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) is determined to reclaim her title as America's hottest and sexiest pop star. Tedros (Abel Tesfay, The Weeknd), a nightclub owner with a troubled past, rekindles the flame inside her. Will this new romance take her to the top of her game, or will she rock her to the depths of her soul? ”.

Lily Rose Depp and her dad on the steps?

Before landing on Prime Video, the series (yes the series, and not a film) will have been screened as part of the Cannes Film Festival. We can't help thinking that Thierry Fremaux, the festival boss, dreams of climbing the stairs with Lily Rose Depp and her father, also in the official selection with Maïwenn's film, Jeanne du Barry. Or how to explain the reversal of the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, who declared in 2018: “It takes eighteen hours to tell a story that would sometimes take two! Game of Thrones, everyone talks about it but no one is able to name any director! And to drive home the point: series are industry, films are poetry”.
