According to the Wall Street Journal, the Premium subscription of the Spotify music streaming platform should see its price increase from $9.99 to $10.99 this week in the United States, an increase of $1 (kudos to those who had already managed to do the math).
Spotify matches Apple Music and Amazon Music pricing
An increase which is not surprising since already announced - without details - by the president of Spotify -Daniel Ek- a few months ago. A bit logical too when you know that this price had not changed for 12 years in the USA. Moreover, noting that the majority of competitors - Apple Music and Amazon Music in particular - have recently set this same price, Spotify can follow them without taking great risks of seeing its subscribers migrate to other places.
It remains to be seen if France - with a Premium subscription currently at $9.99 - will also follow, and if this increase will push users towards the new Spotify Hi-Fi option which will not be long in coming.
