Edgeless screen for the iPhone 17, but nothing to do with the design…

Apple orders "edgeless" iPhone screens from its suppliers, but the reasons are not what you think.

According to the Korean site The Elec, Apple has ordered borderless Oled screens from its suppliers -LG and Samsung- for future iPhones.

iPhone 17, new borderless Oled screens unrelated to the design

New screens, but not necessarily for design reasons. Indeed, Apple has so far always avoided having its screens protrude on the edges - unlike some of its competitors - for fear of affecting the solidity and longevity of the iPhone. If Apple needs these “edgeless” screens, it is above all to facilitate the implementation of the camera hidden under the screen, and to give more space to components such as antennas, while reducing interference.

This new screen would arrive on the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025, since it is on this model that a Face ID sensor hidden under the screen should arrive for the first time, and no longer visible on the Dynamic Island area.
