Nautilus Disney series, casting tour

The live action series Nautilus, adapted from the novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne and already filmed, has just been abandoned by Disney.

The news is all the more surprising as 10 episodes of the British series had already been filmed at the beginning of last year in Australia.

Nautilus, the series that takes on water

The series was worn by Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) in Captain Nemo's cape. At his side, comedians Luke Arnold, Cameron Cuffe, Jacob Collins-Levy, Georgia Flood and Caroline Goodall. Nautilus tells the origins of Captain Nemo who, in this new retelling, is an Indian prince deprived of his birthright and his family, prisoner of the East India Company. A man determined to exact revenge on the forces that took everything from him. But after embarking with his crew aboard the impressive Nautilus, he discovers a magical underwater world…

Series cancelled, how many more?

Launched in 2021, the Nautilus project was abandoned following Disney's decision to drastically reduce its streaming content in order to save money. The Spiderwick Chronicles series, also already filmed, suffered the same fate last Saturday. But Disney+ would work with the Nautilus production team to find him a new broadcaster. Source: Deadline
