Production drop for iPhone 15

Manufacturing and demand concerns would push Apple to reduce the number of iPhone 15s that will be distributed at launch.

A few weeks before the announcement of the new iPhone 15 range, Apple has reportedly lowered the number of units produced compared to its initial plans.

iPhone 15 production down, component problem and gloomy economic situation to blame

This is according to Taiwanese analyst Jeff Pu, usually aware of the vagaries on Asian production lines. According to him, 77 million iPhone 15s will be produced by the end of 2023, less than the 83 million initially planned, and even less than the 90 million iPhone 14s last year. The cause is production problems with certain components such as Sony sensors, the titanium frame and the thinner edges of the Pro models. In addition, demand would also be down, in particular due to the sluggish global economy, which would explain an expected higher price for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
