Disney takes on password sharing

Canada is one of the first countries affected by the new anti-password sharing campaign from the Disney+ streaming service.

The measures recently taken by Netflix to limit password sharing on its platform have paid off, and it is therefore not surprising that Disney+ has announced a similar position. If the hunt for the password should officially begin in 2024, Canadian subscribers have had the scoop on the new Disney strategy.

Disney+ has its say

Disney+ subscribers in Canada have indeed received an explicit email: “Unless otherwise authorized by your level of service, you cannot share your subscription outside of your household. “Home” means all the devices associated with your main personal residence used by the people who reside there (…). We may, in our sole discretion, analyze your account usage to determine compliance with this Agreement. If we determine that you have violated this agreement, we may limit or terminate access to the Service and/or take any other action permitted by this agreement. For context, Disney+ shows a loss of more than $500 million during the third fiscal quarter of 2023. These measures are therefore put in place to maximize revenues, in the same way as the increase in subscription prices from November. Source: Mobile Syrup
