The Cannes Film Festival was a good launching pad for Mad Max: Fury Road, presented out of competition in 2015. Released in cinemas very shortly after, the film grossed $374 million worldwide and won six Oscars out of ten nominations.
Tick tock for George Miller
Thierry Frémaux, president of the Festival, even spoke out on the subject, declaring to Variety: “We have had extraordinary memories of the world premiere of Fury Road in Cannes. It would be wonderful to welcome them back with Furiosa, especially since George Miller was a wonderful jury president in 2016. I know he is working on the film and I hope he will be at Cannes.â€
As a reminder, Anya Taylor-Joy will play the role of young Furiosa that Charlize Theron played in Fury Road, while Chris Hemsworth will be the villain of the film. Source: Worldofreel
