There have been rumors for a while about the arrival of the Tetraprism telephoto lens on iPhone 16 Pro, although it has so far only been introduced on iPhone 15 Pro Max. It would be thanks in particular to the respectable size of the Pro Max model that Apple was able to integrate this x5 optical telephoto lens.
Ming-Chi Kuo's prediction
But recently Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that another reason pushed Apple not to integrate the component into the Pro version: a production yield which was only 40%. In other words, 60% of the sensors produced were defective. Kuo explains, however, that this efficiency is today 70%, motivating Apple to also integrate the component into the next iPhone 16 Pro. In addition, this model should see its size increase - the screen going from 6.1"" to 6.3" - making it easier to integrate the new lens.
