iPhone 16 Pro with 48 Mpxls wide angle?

The wide-angle sensor of the next iPhone 16 Pro could move up a gear with increased capabilities.

According to a leaker on the Chinese social network Weibo (via macrumors), corroborating predictions from Taiwanese analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 16 Pro would be the first iPhone to have a 48 Mpxls wide-angle sensor, where the model current is 12 megapixels.

iPhone 16 Pro, low light lens

Concretely, this hardware development would make it possible to capture more light and therefore increase the quality of the photos captured, particularly in low light conditions. As a reminder, the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Pro already have a 48 Mpxls main sensor, capable of combining four pixels in one for better captures in low light conditions.

The leaker adds that in 2025 the iPhone 17 Pro would have three 48 Mpxls sensors since the telephoto lens would be of the same capacity.
