1.3 billion hours recorded on the internet in 2023

The world's population spent even more time online this year than in 2022. But what did we do before the internet?

Analysis firm Domo recently published its Data Never Sleeps report, which indicates that internet users stayed online for 1.3 trillion hours in 2023, or a million million hours if you prefer .

Worldwide Internet, dizzying statistics

In total, 241 million emails were sent per minute in 2023, compared to 231.4 million in 2022, while Google searches amount to 6.3 million per minute, or 6.7% of better than last year. 43 years of streaming content was watched per minute (yes forty-three. Years. Per minute), while $455,000 was spent on Amazon every minute. Finally, a little new thing for 2023, on ChatGPT 6,944 requests per minute were recorded. And on Facebook the “likes” are collected by the shovelful of 4 million every minute.

"This year's results reflect the rapidly evolving digital landscape, which has been further accentuated by the popularity of artificial intelligence models such as ChatGPT," says Domo founder and CEO Josh James. Data powers everything we do, whether it's a quick search online, sending an email, or checking the latest news on the way to work."
