PlayStation 5 Pro at $499?

A recent leak suggests that the PS5 Pro - supposedly released this year - would be priced at $499, version without disk drive.

After credible rumors about the PlayStation 6, the YouTube channel Moore's Law Is Dead strikes again with indiscretions this time on a machine closer to us: the PlayStation 5 Pro, an improvement of the PS5 supposed to be released during this year.

The PS5 Pro would reduce the price of the PS5 Slim ££££

We learn that the console would still be available in two versions - digital without optical drive, and "complete" with disc reader - and that the first would cost 499 dollars, or 464 € of our euros at the current exchange rate. For comparison, the digital PS5 Slim is sold for 449 euros. We thus extrapolate for the version with optical drive of the PS5 Pro with a cost of $549 or even $599 (i.e. €509 or $556, still carrying out a strict exchange conversion). When this machine is released, Sony should therefore logically make an effort on the “old” PS5 Slim, the price of which would inevitably drop. In terms of characteristics, the new console will still be equipped with 16 GB shared memory, but faster: GDDR6 18 Gbps, compared to 14 Gbps on the PS5. The GPU will also be improved, with 60 or 56 Compute Units.

Note, however, that Sony could very well modify these prices depending on the strategy adopted by its competitor Xbox, from which we are also expecting an improved version of the Xbox Series, which should also be released this year.
