Eddy Murphy, once a cop, always a cop

Eddy Murphy would be back for a fifth episode of Beverly Hills Cop 5, if opus 4 is a hit on Netflix of course.

Eddy Murphy played Axel Foley for the first time in Beverly Hills Cop in 1984 before reprising the role in 1987 and 1994. Thirty years after the third feature film, he is back with the fourth opus entitled Beverly Hills Cop Beverly Hills: Axel F, which is due to arrive on Netflix on July 3.

And at 63, the actor says he's already ready to do it again: "I hope so because this latest film is very successful and especially if you grew up watching the saga, you will really, really love this new film. Beverly Hills Cop is the first film in which I play the main character. And when I traveled abroad, people all called me Axel Foley. Today they call me "Alex Foley." Axel is an ordinary man. He's not a superhero or a supercop. It is the ordinary man who rises to the occasion. I think that's why people like it. And, above all, because it is funny.”

Before concluding that he has abandoned any idea of retirement to follow the path marked out by “Tom Cruise or Ridley Scott. I will continue until I can't do it anymore, I think I will continue to be on deck until the day I die.”
