Purple Rivers: Small Streams Make Big 4K

Along with Hate, The Purple Rivers (2000) is undoubtedly the best-known (and appreciated) film by director Mathieu Kassovitz. The two films share the same main actor: Vincent Cassel and this is not a coincidence. Next October, The Purple Rivers will get a makeover in 4K. We will have warned you…

In 2000, Mathieu Kassovitz himself adapted the best-seller Les rivières pourpres by Jean-Christophe Grangé (who also collaborated on the writing). He associates with his favorite actor at the time Vincent Cassel (this is no longer really the case), the mute Jean Reno. Perfect pair of broken cops, which has since become cult and has never been reformed on screen, unfortunately. assigned to Luc Besson and the music, to the composer Bruno Coulais. The alchemy of this association of talents, all at the punctum of their art, will result in a film which, almost a quarter of a century later, remains a reference in terms of French thriller noir. A sequel (dispensable with Benoît Magimel and which Kassovitz will not direct) will arrive on screens four years later, as well as a TV series, quite distant from the film, a few years later.

October 30, Les rivières purples will therefore be released in a limited Collector's Edition 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray from Gaumont with, we hope, bonuses to match.
