Netflix: video games to wait between seasons

Recently, Netflix representatives discussed their strategy around video games, a way to keep subscribers interested when they no longer have anything to watch on the streaming platform.

On the occasion of the announcement of its latest quarterly results, Netflix recalled its investment in video games, the platform having been offering dozens of mobile games for a while now, and not of lesser quality.

To begin, Gregory K. Peters -co-CEO- recalls that 80 new games are currently in development: “And we have even more to come in future quarters and years, of very different types.”

For Netflix, video games have the benefit of keeping users on the platform while they wait for the next season of their favorite series, especially games adapted from Netflix original works. He continues: “I think our opportunity here to serve super fans with games is really fun and remarkable,” says Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix. I think we could take a series and give those fans a place to hang out between seasons, and even beyond that, we could use the gaming platform to introduce new characters, new storylines or new twists, which could then materialize in the next season, or in the sequel to the film.”
