$175,000 for Princess Leia's bikini

Once again, props used on the sets of Star Wars films continue to sell for crazy amounts of money.

After other Star Wars items like Han Solo's (Harrison Ford) jacket, it was a lighter but more legendary piece of clothing that was put up for auction at the beginning of July: the famous golden-brown "bikini" worn by Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) during her detention by Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.

And the hammer recently fell: with a starting price of $30,000, the item was sold for a sum of $175,000 (a little over €160,000). by Heritage Auctions.

Another object from the George Lucas saga to be sold during these auctions, a miniature of the Y-Wing ship which took part in the final attack of the Death Star in the very first Star Wars film. Beautiful sale price of 1.55 million dollars for an ultra-detailed model of which only two copies were produced.
