Google Chromecast is dead, long live Google TV Streamer!

Google is launching a new streaming box in September, replacing Chromecast keys and competing with Apple TV, nVidia Shield and other multimedia boxes.

Goodbye Chromecast keys and hello Google TV Streamer, whose neat design does not look ashamed next to a television, where Chromecast keys were condemned to be hidden behind or on the side of the screen.

Google TV Streamer, direct competitor to Apple TV boxes, nVidia Shield…££££

The device, which is positioned as a competitor to Apple TV or nVidia Shield boxes, offers [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] [abc]HDR10+[/abc], [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] and [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] compatibility. The ideal companion, therefore, to use the Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ or YouTube video platforms. Not to mention access to more than 800 live and free TV channels.

The Google TV Streamer is supported by Google Gemini AI, allowing in particular content searches via simple descriptions ("Films that evoke holidays" for example), but also to obtain summaries, opinions and analyses of films or seasons of series. Navigation is done via a [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] remote control integrating a microphone for voice requests via Google Assistant. Good point, a button on the box or a voice request allows if necessary to make the remote beep which would have decided to go on an adventure between two cushions of the sofa.

Google TV Streamer, main specifications££££

Equipped with a storage capacity of 32 GB and a processor 22% faster than the previous generation Chromecast -according to Google- the device has an [abc]HDMI[/abc] 2.1 port but unfortunately does not come with the appropriate cable, which you will therefore need to provide. Operating in [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] but also in [abc]Ethernet[/abc] in case of weak reception, the device also acts as a home automation hub with Google Home and Matter compatibility. You will therefore be able to control the connected devices in the home (lighting, cameras, etc.) with the comfort of the big screen.

Availability announced for September 24. Recommended price: 119 euros.
