Marantz Model 10, reference stereo amplifier

The manufacturer Marantz announces the new ultimate stereo series Marantz 10 composed of the integrated amplifier Marantz Model 10, the player Marantz SACD 10 and the network player Marantz Link 10. Presentation of the first named before returning later to the other two, the latter being announced only for the months to come.

The Marantz 10 series is the manufacturer's first since 2016 to offer ultra-high-end components. It therefore benefits from the latest available technologies and drastic standards to illustrate the brand's sound philosophy. Developed over the last five years by the engineering team at the famous Shirakawa Audio Works center in Japan, the Marantz 10 series embodies the manufacturer's [abc]Hi-Fi[/abc] heritage, where performance and beautiful design coexist in harmony.

Marantz Model 10, design and finish££££

There is a [abc]Oled[/abc] screen in the classic porthole shape on the front (in extruded aluminum with a beautiful effect) to display the source, volume... or a VU meter. Its brightness and display speed are configurable. This screen has CNC machined aluminum potentiometers on each side for volume or source management. The remote control, specific to the Marantz Model 10, has an aluminum upper surface. The top plate of the Model 10 is made of an openwork grid allowing you to view the inside of the amplifier thanks to an interior light: an [abc]LED[/abc] offering 20 levels of light intensity. The result is magnificent.

Precision, the cheeks of the Model 10 are made of solid aluminum with a thickness of 16 mm for high inertia, therefore very low resonance.

Marantz Model 10, how does it work?££££

Marantz claims that the Model 10 amplifier is the most powerful monobloc specimen ever manufactured by the brand. It is structured from a new dual mono symmetrical amplifier topology and a brand new triple-layer copper-plated chassis. Its internal layout is compartmentalized in order to completely dissociate the various functions and reduce/avoid interference and therefore performance: to isolate, for example, high and low power circuits via strategically placed shielding plates.

Marantz Model 10, Marantz/Purifi partnership££££

The amplifier is of completely new design, developed in partnership with Purifi, a specialist in Class D. Used in pairs for a dual mono configuration, each associated with a separate linear power supply allows fully symmetrical operation from the signal input to the output. In the end, the distortion is extremely contained, THD at 0.05% over the entire audio band and an order of power higher than half power. The peak current is up to 30A, ensuring extraordinary dynamics and a frequency response that is insensitive to load impedances. These new amplifiers are driven by preamplifiers, again with a unique design based on the latest generation of HDAM analog circuits from Marantz. As a reminder, the HDAM process is an exclusive Marantz technology introduced with the PM-99SE amplifier in 1992, the purpose of which is the optimal combination of speed and signal transparency.

Marantz Model 10, main specifications££££

The Marantz Model 10 is a Class D model with a power of 2 x 500 W RMS (into 4 ohms) / 2 x 250 W RMS (into 8 ohms). If that wasn't enough, it's possible to pair two Marantz Model 10s together using the FCBS (Floating Control Bus System) for a bi-amplified stereo setup. That is, you can connect up to four Marantz Model 10s.

Marantz Model 10, the connectivity££££

The Marantz Model 10 has a wide range of connectivity. A Phono input (MM/MC), two stereo XLR inputs, three stereo RCA inputs, an XLR direct power amp output, an RCA direct power amp output, an RCA Rec output, a stereo RCA Pre-Out, an XLR stereo Pre-Out, an FCBS connector, four sets of binding posts (bi-wiring) plus a headphone output (with selectable gain amplifier).

Availability announced for the month of October. Indicative price: 14,500 euros.
