Samsung The Premiere 9, Ultra HD 4K ultra-short throw triple laser projector

As announced by Samsung at the CES 2024 show in Las Vegas last January (see our CES 24 news > Samsung The Premiere 5 and The Premiere 7/9, a newcomer and two upgrades), the Korean manufacturer is refreshing its range of ultra-short throw video projectors. The LSP9T model (full test to discover by clicking on the reference), unveiled at the IFA show in Berlin 2020, adopts the name The Premiere 9 and benefits from welcome developments.

As a reminder, The Premiere projector series is a new range of products in Samsung's catalog that ensures you experience cinema or sports emotions on a grand scale with a minimum of space and installation.

To make a long story short, in addition to a [abc]DLP[/abc] TI [abc]4K[/abc] chip that is still in use, there is a triple laser [abc]RGB[/abc] light source for an announced coverage of 154% of the DCI-P3 gamut (compared to 147% on the original model), increased brightness to 3,450 lumens (compared to 2,800 lumens on the 2020 LSPT9) for a native contrast ratio of 1,500:1, and a maximum diagonal of 130'' (330 cm).

The Samsung The Premiere 9 features [abc]Upscaling[/abc] Ultra HD [abc]4K[/abc] based on AI-boosted image processing. The Vision Booster function automatically adjusts brightness and contrast based on ambient lighting. A solar remote control, like that of the brand's TVs, is provided.

For the rest, the equipment is unchanged. The Samsung The Premiere 9 features an integrated Acoustic Beam sound bar (the [abc]tweeters[/abc] are associated with a waveguide occupying the entire length of the video projector, in the form of a tube with multiple holes through which the sound signal escapes for increased sound presence) of obedience 2.2.2, compatible with [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.2 and delivering a total power of 40 watts.

It is also worth mentioning the Tizen interface (which is now guaranteed to be updated for seven years, see our news on Samsung Smart TV, 7 years of guaranteed Tizen updates), further accentuating the impression for the consumer of being in front of a Samsung television, with the added size of the image. The same goes for the Ceiling mode which allows the video projector to be integrated into the ceiling, the Filmmaker mode, the [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] function, the Bixby voice assistant and access to all the best [abc]OTT[/abc] services.

Samsung has also thought of gamers who want to enjoy their favorite titles in very large format with an Input [abc]Lag[/abc] of 53 milliseconds. Another detail, [abc]HDR10+[/abc] compatibility is on the menu.

There is also a dual [abc]DVB-T[/abc]/[abc]DVB-S[/abc] tuner, a 0.66" [abc]DLP[/abc] chip with a native resolution of 2,716 x 1,528 pixels (and unfortunately stuck at 60 Hz). The Ultra HD 4K definition is simulated using the exclusive Texas Instrument wobulation technology called XPR2. Precision, the design evolves at the margin with a slightly more rounded curved front.

The word to Tonnie van Schijndel, Samsung TV and Audio Marketing Director££££

"The Premiere range is set to redefine the premium home cinema experience by combining our advanced laser technology with cutting-edge, user-friendly features that deliver exceptional picture quality and immersive sound, said Tonnie van Schijndel, Samsung TV and Audio Marketing Director.
