LG Elastic Screen at Korean Fashion Week

First steps towards a world of the future where screens will truly be everywhere, even on clothes thanks to the elastic properties of a Micro LED model developed by LG.

In 2022, LG already presented the world's first elastic high-resolution display, in a 12'' (30.5 cm) format but capable of being folded, twisted and stretched to cover the surface of a 14'' (35.6 cm) screen without distortion or damage. That's an extension of about 20%.

But most recently, the Korean manufacturer showed a concrete application of its technology at Seoul Fashion Week 2025. LG teamed up with designers Youn-Hee Park and Chung-Chung Lee to explore the integration of these screens on clothing and bags, with the result unveiled during a real fashion show (see video).

"We were able to realize futuristic fashion concepts with new materials that have never existed before," said designer Youn-Hee Park, director of the very fun brand Greedilous.

The technological feat is based in part on the use of a very solid substrate made from a special silicone used for contact lenses. This Micro LED display has a pixel density of 100 ppi (dots per inch) and a pitch of 40 μm, figures lower than those coming from the latest smartphones, but enough to offer a high quality image.

The flexible and extensible properties of the product will see it exploited in many other applications, in particular so-called wearable devices, but also in the automotive industry, aeronautics, furniture and why not consumer textiles.
