Xgimi Aura 2 UHD 4K: ultra-short throw, Dual Light 2.0 and Android TV 11

After our visit to the Xgimi stand at the IFA show in Berlin, we return to the Aura 2 video projector, of which we now know more details about the nature of its Dual Light 2.0 light source.

The Xgimi Aura 2 stands out from its predecessor, the Aura, by being marketed as a standalone version or as a pack including an ALR (Ambient Light Rejecting) type technical projection screen.

Xgimi Aura 2, main specifications££££

This model of course integrates all the technologies present in the original Aura, in particular the [abc]DLP[/abc] (Digital Light Processing) technology associated with a [abc]DMD[/abc] (Digital Micromirror Device) chip of 0.47", offering a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Thanks to the [abc]wobulation[/abc] XPR4 technology developed by Texas Instruments, the display can therefore display a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. The Xgimi Aura 2 also benefits from MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation), [abc]HDR10[/abc] and [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] compatibility, as well as [abc]IMAX certification Enhanced[/abc], while offering an extended color space. The maximum brightness is announced at 2,300 lumens, with a light source displaying 20,000 hours of longevity. In addition, the Xgimi Aura 2 is a [abc]3D Ready[/abc] model.

Xgimi Aura 2, display technology and advanced features££££

The Xgimi Aura 2 integrates Dual Light [abc]2.0[/abc] technology, which is clearly different from the process used in the Horizon Max model presented at CES in Las Vegas in January 2024. This new approach combines a narrow-spectrum [abc]RGB[/abc] laser with another wide-spectrum laser, of RB (red and blue) obedience. This combination achieves 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut, representing a 19% improvement over the previous Aura. In addition, ISA [abc]5.0[/abc] (Intelligent Scene Adaptation) technology ensures fully automatic projection, including features such as focus, keystone correction, obstacle avoidance and adaptation to the color of the wall or projection screen, all supported by an ultra-fast 3D ToF (Time of Flight) sensor and a motorized [abc]optical block[/abc].

Xgimi Aura 2, Smart TV features and ergonomics££££

In terms of Smart TV features, the Xgimi Aura 2 is equipped with Android TV 11 with [abc]Chromecast (integrated)[/abc] and, as expected, direct access to the Google ecosystem. Users can thus enjoy the main [abc]streaming[/abc] applications, such as Prime Video, Rakuten and YouTube, although the absence of Netflix remains notable. Ultra short throw model requires, to enjoy a 100-inch (254 cm) image, a distance of only 17.8 cm is required.

Xgimi Aura 2, audio performance and connectivity££££

The audio section of the Xgimi Aura 2, compatible with [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] and [abc]DTS-HD[/abc] formats, is signed Harman Kardon. It is based on four speakers, including two [abc]tweeters[/abc] and two [abc]midranges[/abc]-[abc]woofers[/abc], powered by Class D amplification. The total sound power is 60 W, divided into four channels of 15 W each. In terms of connectivity, the Xgimi Aura 2 has two [abc]HDMI[/abc] 2.0 inputs, one HDMI [abc]2.1[/abc] input with [abc]ARC[/abc] (Audio Return Channel) function management, one [abc]optical[/abc] output, one 3.5 mm mini-jack headphone output, three [abc]USB[/abc]2.0 ports and one [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port. Connectivity mentions the [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] ax and Bluetooth 5.2 standards.
