Design studio Floor 84 is teaming up with Taito to launch these watches based on Space Invaders, the seminal video game that was released over 45 years ago.
Space Invaders: My Play Watch, Crowdfunding Campaign Underway££££
The Space Invaders: My Play Watch is the focus of a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that ends on October 25 and has already raised more than its initial target of $20,000.
With its faux Apple Watch look, it is equipped with a 1.86" (4.7 cm) touchscreen and interchangeable straps in retro Space Invaders colors. Moreover, it is possible to play the game via the touchscreen or the wheel on the side. Several retro faceplates are available with pixelated fonts and the sounds of the original arcade game. In terms of features, there is no connection to a smartphone, no notifications, emails or phone calls, but still a heart monitor, a step counter and an estimate of calories burned.
Launch expected in December. Suggested price: $75.
