Amoled screens for the “not Pro” Apple Vision?

Apple could turn away from classic OLED to reduce the costs of the "affordable" version of its next mixed reality headset, and adopt Amoled technology.

A high-end product, the Apple Vision Pro headset uses luxurious 3,400 ppi micro-[abc]Oled[/abc] screens from Sony. Earlier this year, Apple ordered cheaper alternatives (1,700 ppi Oled) from Samsung and LG in order to produce a cheap version of the Apple Vision headset. But the latest rumors suggest that the manufacturer would like to reduce costs even further.

According to some Korean media (via Oled-Info), Apple is considering using Amoled screens (Oled + TFT layer) for this new headset and is already in talks with Samsung and Japan Display (JDI) on this subject, asking them to produce Amoled screens with a density of 1,500 dots per inch. JDI has already produced samples based on Sony technologies, while Samsung is also working on the subject in its A2 factory. This headset could be released in 2026-2027 and there is a good chance that other suppliers like LG Display will also be involved in the production of these displays.
