Sugarland Express: the first (real) Spielberg returns with a bang

History has forgotten that while Duel (1971) was filmed for TV (before being re-released in theaters), the road movie Sugarland Express was truly the first film released in theaters (in 1974) directed by Steven Spielberg. It returns this winter in 4K.

Selected at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Best Screenplay Award, Sugarland Express brings together Goldie Hawn and William Atherton who play a couple of "outcasts" (70s vintage) ready to do anything to get back their child whose custody has been taken away from them.

The charm of vintage boosted to 4K££££

A real gateway to the future cinematographic universe of ET's father, Sugarland Express remains all the same a film marked by its time, quite dispensable in view of his filmography. It remains nonetheless a pleasant work to which the years have given a certain charm.

Its re-release in 4K with HDR Dolby Vision on December 4th by Universal is the perfect opportunity to discover it, if you haven't already, especially since it remains fairly invisible on television.
