Marantz Horizon: luxurious and high-performance wireless Hi-Fi active speaker

The manufacturer Marantz is investing in the active connected speaker sector, a first for the brand, with two new references called Horizon and Grand Horizon. Totally statutory with their magnificent aesthetics, they can be placed on a piece of furniture, a stand or on the wall. Presentation of the first named before returning later to the second.

The music market is experiencing a mini-revolution, that of the active speaker grouping together in the same pre-amplifier/amplifier, network functions and speaker. On the program, in addition to optimized speaker management and the possibility of enjoying your favorite music with a single speaker (it's still better with two), unparalleled ergonomics (no cables except the one connected to a socket), easy integration into all interiors and innovative designs. A cocktail that appeals to more and more music lovers now looking for [abc]Hi-Fi[/abc] solutions. And with the Marantz Horizon, the manufacturer intends to meet this expectation.

Marantz Horizon, acoustic package and finish££££

The Marantz Horizon speaker has six speakers. First, two 25 mm silk dome tweeters, three 5 cm wideband specimens and a 16.5 cm Marantz Gravity woofer (neodymium magnet) developed for this occasion. The frequency response displays 30-20,000 hertz.

The Marantz Rise, Class D amplification, based on highly responsive GaN FET technology and low sensitivity to heating, delivers a total power of 310 watts. The finish of the Marantz Horizon speaker uses carefully selected materials, for example the custom-made Marantz seamless Ecofiber Radiance 360 fabric, enhanced with gold lurex. Well seen, the approach of the speaker automatically gives life, through proximity sensors, to a luminous halo made up of 100 [abc]LEDs[/abc] to visualize the sound level or even, via the AuraControl mode, to "create a homogeneous symphony of light and sound".

Marantz Horizon, network and wireless££££

The Marantz Horizon supports the codecs [abc]Wav[/abc], [abc]Alac[/abc], [abc]Flac[/abc] up to 192 kHz/24 bits, [abc]AAC[/abc] and [abc]MP3[/abc] up to 320 kbps, up to 192 kbits and [abc]DSD[/abc] 2.8/5.6 megahertz. Of course, [abc]Hi-Res Audio[/abc] certification is in place and connectivity mentions [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.4, [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] ax and [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc], not to mention the [abc]UPnP[/abc] ([abc]DLNA[/abc]) audio gateway function. In terms of music services, Amazon Music, Deezer, Deezer HiFi, Tidal and Spotify Connect are all part of it, as are the [abc]webradios[/abc] (TuneIn).

Marantz Horizon, Heos multiroom, connectivity and Dolby Atmos££££

The Marantz Horizon features the Heos multiroom function to transform this active speaker into a link in a larger Heos audio chain, including, for example, real Denon Home active speakers to provide sound for a home. Of course, it is also possible to combine two Marantz Horizons for a true stereo configuration (2.0). The connectivity includes an [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]eARC[/abc]/[abc]CEC[/abc] input, an [abc]optical[/abc] input, a [abc]RCA[/abc] stereo input, a [abc]USB[/abc]-C port and an [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port.

To be precise, the [abc]eARC[/abc] function, the arrangement of the speakers within the circular enclosure, the Spatialization mode ([abc]DSP[/abc] Marantz Mirage integrated) and the appropriate decoder allow you to happily reproduce Doby Atmos soundtracks. Also note that once selected, the Sound Master mode delivers sound faithful to that desired by Yoshinori Ogata, Marantz's golden ear.

Last detail, unlike the Marantz Grand Horizon, the Marantz Horizon has an optional tripod (€750). Immediate availability. Recommended price: €3,800.
