Coca Cola Makes an AI Ad, and It's a Disaster

When the Coca-Cola giant produces a "soulless" advertisement generated by artificial intelligence, social networks are in turmoil.

Image generation by artificial intelligence was once confined to fan experiences, but it didn't take long for industry giants to get their hands on it. After Toys R Us, Coca Cola released an ad designed with the help of generative AI.

The sequence (which you can watch at the top of the page) pays homage to the "Holidays Are Coming" ad that the company released in 1995 (click to compare). We find the same imagery around Christmas, except that here, nothing is real and nothing required the meticulous work of a team of skilled artists.

The ad in question caused an avalanche of negative criticism on social networks, just another day on the internet, in short. The lack of soul in video and the fact that this technology steals the work of real artists are particularly pointed out. A selected quote, signed Alex Hirsch, creator of the Disney series Gravity Falls: "CocaCola is red because it is made with the blood of unemployed artists!".

In our humble opinion, if this is just a graphic experiment on the part of Coca, we really wonder if such a storm of hatred is deserved. On the other hand, if the multi-billion dollar brand, famous for a few advertising spots that have made history in the history of communication, decides to make a habit of it in order to scrape together a few dollars, we will definitely talk about it again...
