USA Vs Apple, the apple counterattacks

Threatened by the US Department of Justice for its practices considered anti-competitive, Apple is fighting tooth and nail to prevent the case from reaching court.

Apple is monopolizing the smartphone market, making it difficult for Americans to switch to a competing manufacturer. This is essentially what a complaint filed in March 2024 by a dozen US states and the DoJ, the US Department of Justice - no less - against Apple says (more details in our previous news on this subject).

Not wanting the case to reach a Court of Justice, Apple requested a request for cancellation from a federal judge, explaining that the complaint contains speculative arguments, and that the government gives too much importance to the iPhone despite its insufficient market share to justify a monopoly. And to add that the app developers who claim to be harmed are in reality "well-capitalized social media companies, large banks and global game developers". "The court is entitled to use simple common sense," the DoJ responded, not convinced by Apple's claims that it is at the mercy of supposed global giants, which are in reality much smaller than Apple."

The judge's decision on the terms of the continuation of the case will be known in January 2025.
