At its annual DTC2024 conference, TCL CSOT announced the launch of large-scale production of the first screens manufactured using the inkjet process. The Chinese firm is therefore, more or less, in line with its schedule mentioned in 2023 (see our news TCL Oled TV (Ink-Jet Printed) in 2025?). As a reminder, the [abc]Oled[/abc] panel production technology by inkjet (IJP or Ink-Jet Printing) is a significant evolution of traditional manufacturing using deposition and evaporation to manufacture the thin film containing the organic diodes.

“The IJP Oled prototypes, of different sizes and shapes, have all achieved excellent display qualities, successfully advancing the IJP Oled technology to a new stage of commercialization, declared TCL CSOT. The first [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] 21.6" TCL CSOT display has officially entered the large-scale production phase".
In addition to this 21.6” 4K UHD Oled display (pictured below) intended for medical use, the company also unveiled a 27” Oled prototype, also manufactured by inkjet. It has a 4K UHD resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, an average brightness of 250 nits for a peak announced at 600 nits.
IJP Oled panel, CSOT soon to compete with LG Display and Samsung Display?££££
This new technology could compete with industry giants LG Display and Samsung Display whose Oled displays are used by manufacturers such as Asus, Dell, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Sony and others. It should be noted, however, that the lower brightness and refresh rate of Ink-Jet Printing technology could prove problematic for being competitive in certain markets. The television market comes to mind, of course, although the technical characteristics are of course set to progress rapidly.
