Like last year, the LG QNED85 [abc]LCD[/abc] TV series should have many references, without further details at the time of writing, except for the presence of the LG 100QNED85 model (100", 254 cm). As a reminder, the LG QNED80 2024 series had six references, from 50" (127 cm) to 98'' (249 cm). Namely, if the QNED85 diffusers benefit from a Super Slim design aesthetic with a thickness of 29.7 mm at the most rounded point of the TV, the 100" specimen adopts the Cinema Screen look.
LG QNED85, main specifications££££
As a reminder, the LG QNED TV series top the brand's [abc]LCD[/abc] range. Namely, the QNED85 screens, like the QNED85 vintage 2024 (in photo in this news while waiting for the good visuals provided by the brand) take up the [abc]Edge[/abc] [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Local Dimming[/abc] backlighting system (called Advanced Local Dimming at LG). On the other hand, the technology called Dynamic QNED Color (93% DCI-P3) replaces that QNED Color presented last year.
LG QNED85, Alpha 8 AI Gen 2 processor££££
For the rest, we find the new Alpha 8 AI Gen 2 processor, an evolution of the Alpha 8 that appeared last year. The AI Super Upscaling features (appropriate processing according to the nature of the image), AI Picture Pro (Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro and Object Enhancing processes) and AI Sound Pro for 9.1.2 audio virtualization are present. Without forgetting of course AI ThinQ and the webOS25 interface (the webOS Re:New program that appeared last year is still in place).
LG QNED85, what about HDR and sound?££££
As with the 2024 vintage QNED85 references, the 2025 LG QNED85 TVs are not HDR Dolby Vision, only HDR10. Likewise, no Dolby Atmos compatibility. In terms of audio, the 2.0 sound section delivering 20 W of power from the 2023 vintage LG QNED80 TVs should be renewed. However, this should be checked.
LG QNED85, 10-bit IPS LCD panel 120 Hz native££££
In addition to the already mentioned [abc]Edge[/abc] [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Local Dimming[/abc] backlighting system, LG QNED85 TVs are built on a native 10-bit IPS [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]LCD[/abc] panel 120 Hz and a simple [abc]DVB-T[/abc]2, [abc]DVB-S[/abc]2 and [abc]DVB-C[/abc] tuner. Plus the [abc]Canal Ready[/abc] and [abc]Fransat[/abc] certifications.
LG QNED85, Smart TV ThinQ AI on the menu ££££
We also find the new ThinQ AI 2025 platform with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa accessible directly on the remote control via a dedicated button. Of course, [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] and HomeKit are on the menu. All of this allows you to access the internet and specific services (LG App Store online store, chat on social networks, etc.), or even directly to the web, like on a computer.
Also present, the [abc]HBBTV[/abc] compatibility and the [abc]UPnP[/abc] ([abc]DLNA[/abc]) multimedia gateway function associated with the [abc]Miracast[/abc], [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] ac and [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.1 APT-X compatibilities. The latter allows the pairing of a headset, a suitable speaker or the activation of the LG Sound Sync function to connect, for example, a wirelessly compatible sound bar with the TV. Not to mention a brand new Magic Remote without numeric keys but with an integrated microphone for greatly improved ergonomics in voice command. Also new, the possibility via the Home Hub menu to program macros (sequence of several commands via a single click).
Also worth mentioning is the DVR function to record your favorite programs via one of the three [abc]USB[/abc] Host ports on a suitable key or an external hard drive, and the [abc]Time Shifting[/abc] function.
LG QNED85, Microsoft Copilot inside and LG AI TV££££
Available only in South Korea and the United States at launch, the Copilot artificial intelligence LLM software by Microsoft. No date has been provided at the time of writing for availability in other countries. In 2025, the Korean manufacturer announced the LG AI TV functionality accessible on the remote control via a dedicated button with a specific logo using the LG AI Home logo presented by the brand at the IFA show in Berlin in September. In addition to numerous interactions with image processing, LG AI TV naturally intervenes in the use of the TV. Thus, the Voice ID function recognizes the user and automatically switches to their profile with its recommendations and audio-video settings. Also new is the ability to query the TV and its AI Chatbot to resolve a problem, for example searching for a particular function in the menus or to help select the best settings according to the nature of the content broadcast. Also new is the ability to generate your own images using artificial intelligence directly from the TV using a credit system (one credit for one image), with the user having a stock of 100 free credits.
LG QNED85, zoom on the connectivity ££££
We note the presence of four [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]CEC[/abc] 2.1 inputs (one of which has the [abc]eARC[/abc] function), all compatible with [abc]HDCP[/abc] 2.3. Management of the [abc]VRR[/abc] and [abc]ALLM[/abc] functions is also available. The rest of the connectivity, not specified by the manufacturer LG, should also include an [abc]optical[/abc] output plus two [abc]USB[/abc] Host ports compatible with [abc]Fat32[/abc] and [abc]NTFS[/abc] and an [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port. Similarly, [abc]MP3[/abc], [abc]AAC[/abc], [abc]Dolby Digital[/abc], [abc]WMA[/abc], [abc]VP9[/abc], [abc]HEVC[/abc], [abc]Xvid[/abc], [abc]VC-1[/abc], Mpeg, Mpeg 2, Mpeg 4 and [abc]Jpeg[/abc] should be ensured.
