Unveiled as a prototype at the CES show in Las Vegas last January, the Samsung 98" (249 cm) [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]8K[/abc] Micro LED [abc]RGB[/abc] television intrigued visitors. Indeed, while competing brands Hisense and TCL presented screens at the show based on the same transmissive technology, i.e. backlighting combined with an [abc]LCD[/abc] panel, the Mini [abc]LED[/abc] name was appropriate. When questioned about the subject in Las Vegas, Samsung representatives replied that the Mini LEDs in their prototype were even smaller, hence the name Micro LED. So be it. A name that has however caused confusion in people's minds considering the Micro LED televisions that Samsung has been touting following the presentation to the world of The Wall model in 2018, which are based on Micro LED technology. self-emissive.

While we thought that the Korean giant would quickly correct this name that all professionals in the sector (manufacturers, brands, resellers, distributors, media, etc.) considered to be a communication error, Samsung persists and signs. In a paper published two days ago in the columns of our colleague The Elec, following a press conference held in Seoul, the head of the Samsung Visual Display division, in charge of marketing the brand's TVs, Yong Seok-woo (see photo above), announced the upcoming marketing, perhaps by June, of a 115" (292 cm) Micro LED RGB television.
Triple surprise: the first lies in the name of the future screen still referring to the Micro LED designation, the second concerns the availability of such a television announced for 2025 and even June 2025, the third is linked to the 115" diagonal while the rumors from the CES show in Las Vegas mentioned possible 85" and 75" versions for the second half of 2025. This last rumor, it is true, still remains possible at the time of writing these lines.

Another question remains, the definition of this 115" TV, 4K like the next Samsung TQ115QN90F (see our Samsung TV news 2025: +80 references, 15 Oled, Mini LED, QLED, Crystal UHD and Lifestyle series) or 8K like the 98" prototype (see photo above) exhibited during the First Look event in the run-up to CES 25? As a reminder, to date, only the manufacturer CSOT (a subsidiary of TCL) offers a 115" diagonal and it is Ultra HD 4K. But here again, a surprise is possible...
