After yesterday's announcement of the new Samsung The Frame QE85LS03 TV, the Korean manufacturer also unveiled the Samsung The Serif QE65LS01T TV (65 '', 165cm) a few days ago.
Samsung The Serif QE65LS01T, main specifications
Still of QLED obedience, the latter is the main technical characteristics of the brand's 2021 vintage televisions. We therefore find 100% of the Color Volume, HDR10, HDR10 + and HDR HLG compatibilities, the Quantum 4K processor version 2021, a PQI3200 index, Motion Rate 200 processing, a 10-bit FRC Dithering matt LCD panel, a 100 Hz display, a Edge LED backlight system and Tizen Smart TV function with the availability of AirPlay 2, Apple TV app and choice of built-in voice assistants Amazon Alexa, Bixby 2.0 and Google Assistant. Without forgetting the Ambient + mode and the Adaptive Picture function which now adjusts the brightness but also the contrast (and this is new) of the TV according to the ambient light (presence, new, of a light sensor).
Quantum 4K Processor vintage 2021
To return to the specifications of the Quantum 4K processor, as with the vintage 2020 TVs, the AI Upscale function adds a dose of Deep Learning to the Machine Learning process. As a reminder, the Deep Learning process is based on a neural model, either without human intervention (unlike Machine Learning) in the learning of the processor. This alone decides on the changes necessary for the image processing algorithms to find optimum quality starting from a degraded display. Namely, for the Deep Learning section of the Quantum Processor 4K vintage 2021, Samsung has favored the rendering of textures.
NFC chip inside
In terms of the particularities of Samsung The Serif TVs, in addition to their iconic design, we notice a flat location on the top of the TV that can serve as a shelf (see first photo above). Namely, it is equipped with an NFC chip (see second photo above), the latter allows the pairing in a few seconds of a smartphone to transform the television equipped with a 4.0 audio system, delivering a total power of 40 W, in Hi-Fi system, and to enjoy the music stored on the mobile terminal.
Adaptive Sound and AVA
The Adaptive Sound function, capable of adapting the audio settings of the TV in real time according to the displayed image, is present, as is the AVA (Active Voice Amplifier) function. As a reminder, the latter is intended to automatically cover new noise in the TV environment. For example that of a kettle or a vacuum cleaner which will be covered by an increase in volume managed directly by the TV. Don't panic, the TV turns down the sound, always automatically, when the noise stops.
Detail of the connection
The connection has four HDMI CEC inputs, one of which complies with the 2.1 standard (no VRR, no ALLM, but eARC, FreeSync Premium and 4K / 120 are on the menu), two USB Host ports compatible with Fat32 and NTFS, one CI + port and Canal Ready certification. We also notice an optical output but no Ethernet port. Samsung The Serif TV is exclusively Wi-Fi ac (and Bluetooth 4.2). Finally, HDCP 2.2 certification and HEVC compatibility are part of the game.
