At the time of this writing, the Thomson 55UH7500 (55 '', 140 cm) television is a unique model. Undoubtedly the way for the brand to test a move upmarket, with in particular the adoption of QLED technology for a more accurate color rendering associated with a coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut announced at 97%. And maybe to come up with other screen sizes later…
Thomson UH7500, the main specifications
On the menu of the Thomson 55UH7500, Ultra HD 4K specimen, a 50 Hz 10-bit LCD panel (10-bit FRC Dithering to be precise, or 10 bits simulated from an 8-bit panel) and a Direct LED Global backlighting system Dimming combined with Micro Dimming software processing and a PPI2600 fluidity index. On the other hand, the mark does not give any precision on the luminous peak. We can bet that the latter must be less than 400/450 nits. We find the IPQ 2.0 Engine video processing coming directly from TCL TVs (as a reminder, Thomson televisions are manufactured and distributed by TCL), a guarantee of quality. HDR10, HDR10 +, HDR Dolby Vision and HDR HLG compatibilities are required, plus Android Smart TV 11.0 with integrated Google Assistant. The latter provides many services and authorizes the control of many other devices connected via various IoT (Internet of Things or Internet of Things) protocols, all by voice via Google Assistant. Namely, Works with Alexa certification is required (need for an Amazon Echo-type speaker) and the update to Google TV is scheduled for 2022.
Zoom on multimedia functions
In addition to having an internet browser, the Chromecast function, offering access to the Google Play Store, which contains several thousand free applications, there is multi-account management, the PAT, the Cast function efficient on Ultra HD content, multitasking management to navigate between several applications and quick access to favorite content. All with a Quad Core processor and 16 GB of flash memory expandable via USB. Not to mention direct access to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video via the remote control… in Ultra HD / 4K. And to be complete on the subject, two remote controls are provided in the box (see photo below).
Sound section, connectivity and connectivity
We also notice a Sport mode to make the display more fluid during a sports broadcast, a Game mode to reduce the Input Lag (15 ms in 1080p, 18 ms in 2 160p) and a DVB-T2 / DVB tuner -C and DVB-S2. The sound section delivers 2 x 10 watts of power (full range speakers) and provides virtual Dolby Atmos decoding. For its part, DTS-HD compatibility responds present. Finally, the connection has three HDMI CEC 2.1 inputs (24 Gpbs bandwidth) certified HDCP 2.2 and including an eARC compatible, two USB Host ports (2.0 + 3.0), a 3.5 mm mini-jack audio-video input, an output optical, a headphone output, a CI + port and an Ethernet port. Of course, Wi-Fi n and Bluetooth compatibility are also required. Precision, in addition to eARC, only the ALLM functionality of the HDMI 2.1 standard is present (no VRR therefore nor, logically, 4K / 120).
