Marketing company Vericast (via Advanced Television) surveyed over 1,000 American adults about their smart TV usage habits. It emerges that a majority want to consume video away from home, even during long journeys by plane or train.
Roll on self-driving cars
26% of respondents have already streamed video during a flight and 36% on long journeys by car, a figure that would rise to 50% if available devices and connection quality were not a brake. The study also reveals a growing interest in streaming in public transport, taxis and carpooling.
“Technological advancements like 5G and greater accessibility of transportation like self-driving cars will continue to increase the availability of streaming options for consumers,†says Michelle Engle of Vericast.
