The latest annual study by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) sheds light on interesting details on the video game market in the United States, a territory with 227 million players in 2021 compared to 214 in 2020.
The end of a myth
We learn in particular that the myth of a sector completely dominated by young men is -justly- a myth. 80% of players (79% in 2020) are over 18 years old, and the player's average age is 31. The proportion of female video game enthusiasts is 45%, up from 41% last year.
On the motivation side, 90% agree that video games bring them joy, that video games can inspire (79%), provide mental stimulation (87%) and lower the level of stress (87%).
