After a decline in 2020, the distribution of smartphones in the world is expected to rise in 2021 to 1.35 billion units, i.e. a growth of 5.3% compared to 2020 (as a reminder, the initial projections were 7.4%). Figures estimated by the International Data Corporation (IDC). In the end, the result remains good despite the difficulties of shortages encountered on the production lines of components.
Smartphone market, growth forecast for the coming years
For 2022, IDC estimates stand at 3% growth, a little below previous projections of 3.4% and also below what other analyst firms like TrendForce predict with 3 , 8%. The shortage problems should gradually disappear with an average annual growth rate which should be around 3.5% over the coming years. A recovery also driven by rising demand and falling average selling prices.
