Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Performance mode at 60 fps and Dynamic 4K Ultra HD
In addition to offering a Performance mode (constant 60 images per second display and dynamic Ultra HD 4K definition, i.e. a drop in resolution if necessary) that you are advised to select and a Fidelity mode (native Ultra HD 4K at 30 frames per second), it caught our eye with its freshness, despite a not really new concept, inherited from the first generations of 3D consoles.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits, scenario
On the screenplay side, Kena is a guide for lost spirits, unable to let go of their old earthly life. In search of a sacred mountain in a world plagued by evil, she helps the confused souls she meets along the way. Divided into several zones, the world is traversed in a relatively linear fashion, with its bosses to face and new powers to be acquired.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits, combat system
The very simple combat system serves up rhythmic brawls, and nice little creatures assist you in action, for example to immobilize an enemy. To summon them, you have to fill a courage gauge - the courage of these cute assistants - by attacking opponents. Also included is a bow and arrows that gain precision (and style) when used in slow motion, or parry against hard-to-dodge attacks.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits, puzzles to solve
Besides the combat, Kena also consists of exploration phases, puzzles to solve and difficult passages based on platforms and obstacles to overcome. Here again, the little creatures will help you, for example by going to pull a lever that is inaccessible to the main character. Balancing playstyles, Kena is reminiscent of - as we said earlier - the best classic action / adventure games found on the Nintendo 64 or GameCube. Believe us, this is no small compliment…
Kena: Bridge of Spirits, action game and open world like Zelda
To sum up, Kena is an action game in an open world, a bit like the first Zelda 3D, in which the exploration is more accomplished than the combat, reduced to what is strictly necessary. The developer -Ember Lab- is initially an animation studio, which is immediately visible in the neat style of the game, reminiscent of Pixar productions or even those of the Japanese giant Ghibli. Again, that defines the game as a real must.
You will understand, we have completely fallen for the game Kena: Bridge of Spirits. We advise you to get it as soon as possible and use it again and again to complete it 100%.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is available on PS5 and PS4 only on the PlayStation Store at a target price of 39.99 euros, as well as on PC through the Epic Game Store.
