According to estimates by analyst Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis, in 2022 there should be twice as many PlayStation 5 consoles sold as Xbox Series X/S.
Nintendo Switch archi-leader in front of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S
The availability of machines should be better than last year and it would sell 18 million PS5 (normal and digital versions combined) and only 9 million Xbox Series X / S. While the gap would widen between next-generation machines, the Nintendo Switch would continue to fly over the market, selling 21 million copies in 2022. Nintendo's console has the advantage of better availability as well as a sudden of boost given by the new Oled version marketed at the start of the 2021 school year.
