A few days ago, Peter Dinklage, unforgettable interpreter of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, castigated the film project in real shots of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, envisaged by Disney.
It shocks him
He said: “There is a lot of hypocrisy. Without wanting to offend anyone, I was a little surprised when they announced that they were giving the role of Snow White to a Latin actress (see Disney found their Snow White live!), whereas at the same time, they strive to tell the story of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you are doing there! It makes no sense to me. Before we continue: They're progressive in a way, but they keep doing this fucking backward story where seven dwarves live together in a cave. What are you doing ? Have I done nothing to advance the cause? I guess I'm not important enough. The actress and the team have all my respect, but personally it shocks meâ€.
Disney's answer
It didn't take long for Disney to react via an official statement reported by Variety magazine: "So as not to reinforce the stereotypes of the animated film, we take a different approach about the seven dwarves, and we inquired with members of the dwarf community to do this. We can't wait to share what we have planned when production on the film gets more underway.â€
A pointless argument, then, where everyone will no doubt agree in the end. Note that the remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be directed by Marc Webb (the Amazing Spider-Man movies with Andrew Garfield). While Rachel Zegler, the heroine of Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, will play the title role and Gal Gadot (Red Notice) that of the evil queen.
