Yamaha TW-E7B: True Wireless, IPX5, active noise reduction, Advanced Listening Care…

After the presentation in our columns last March of the Yamaha TW-E5B headphones, make way for another new reference in the brand's True Wireless series, the Yamaha TX-E7B.

In short, the major differences of the Yamaha TW-E7B compared to the TW-E5B lie in the availability of active noise reduction. This process exclusive to the brand minimizes its effect on the music: it sorts the signal into musical components and eliminates only those related to noise preserving the integrity of the sound signal. If the latter logically influences the autonomy of the headphones, many other specifications are changing.

Yamaha TW-E7B, main technical characteristics

First of all, we notice a new 10 mm transducer with a membrane 50% larger than the one fitted to the EW5B. Its internal structure has also been completely revised to minimize echoes but also to align the axis of the loudspeaker with the nozzle so as not to influence the tonal balance. The Ambient Sound function is still there, it allows the user, using the microphone present, to perceive his sound environment, or even to converse with others, without having to remove the headphones.

Among the other major developments, coming from the brand's circumaural headphones (see for example our news Yamaha YH-E700A, Bluetooth circumaural headphones with active noise reduction) it is necessary to point out the Listening Optimizer function which adapts the restitution sound to the morphology of the auricle. It proceeds via a microphone internal to the earpieces to the analysis of the ear cavity by comparing the signal emitted and that received. This measurement is made every 20 seconds for sound processing that is as close as possible to listening conditions.

Yamaha TW-E7B, Main Specifications Following

For the rest, the Yamaha TW-E7B headphones are equipped with the new Advanced Listening Care function to enhance listening. The latter proposes to take care of your hearing by making all the frequencies of a sound signal audible, even at low volume.

To do this, Yamaha engineers have drawn on technologies developed for ages by the Japanese manufacturer, the YPAO automatic calibration process present on its audio-video amplifiers in this case, which makes it possible to correct the acoustics of one piece. Thus, no need to force the volume to hear the low and high frequencies. It is the hair cells, unable to regenerate, that say thank you to Yamaha.

Yamaha TW-E7B, main features

In addition to the Advanced Listening Care function, the True Wireless Yamaha TW-E7B headphones incorporate the Bluetooth 5.2 APT-X HD Adaptive function to enjoy always optimal sound, regardless of the source: music, movies or video games. The latter offers a minimum Input Lag to promote the player's immersion in the action.

In terms of autonomy, Yamaha announces 6 hours, 22 hours via the box which allows three full recharges. Note that charging using the supplied USB-C/A cable requires 2 hours for the earphones, 3 hours for the case. On the voice assistant side, Siri and Google Assistant are in the game.

Yamaha TW-E7B, Headphone Control app

The control of the Yamaha TW-E7B is provided through the Headphone Control application or via the buttons on the headphones. They are sold with five different tips and sleeves in three sizes.

Scheduled to be available in July, in black, beige, blue or white. Indicative price: 279 euros.
