May 23, 1971: A year after the end of his band Taste, Irish songwriter Rory Gallagher made his solo debut with the release of a legendary self-titled debut album. Accompanied by a new group where we find Gerry McAvoy on bass and Wilgar Campbell on drums, he then signs some of the greatest pieces of his career, such as I Fall Apart or Laundromat, and launches the debut of 'a career that will shine throughout the 1970s, with classic albums like Deuce, Tattoo and Top Priority.
And even a live in France
Fifty years later, this blues rock classic is the subject of a reissue scheduled for release on September 3, 2021, bringing together a new mix of the original album, alternate takes and clips from live sessions on the BBC in 1971. Several versions are planned by Universal Music: a standard version available in double CD and triple vinyl, but also a 5-disc Deluxe box set. The latter will offer even more rare titles as well as a 40-minute live DVD, with Rory Gallagher's first solo concert for the French show Pop 2. A 32-page book will also be included, bringing together photographs and stories from the recording of the album, as well as a poster.
