While Apple should finally give in to European legislation by switching to USB C with the iPhone 15 vintage 2023, the new AirPods Pro that rumors see arriving at the end of 2022 should keep the Lightning port.
USB-C compatible AirPods case from 2023
This is what the Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo affirms again, confirming similar remarks dating from a few weeks ago. He explains that it will take until 2023 for the AirPods charging case to become USB-C compatible. Claims that corroborate other rumors reported by another reputedly reliable leaker, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
USB-C imposed on all smartphones by Europpe in 2024
As a reminder, the legislators of the European Union recently agreed: all smartphones sold in Europe -even the iPhone- must be equipped with USB-C before the fall of 2024. The law also affects other devices such as tablets, cameras, headphones, consoles and e-readers.
And if you want to see USB-C version AirPods, no need to wait since a Swiss engineer has already made his own. A unique copy of course.
