Youngblood in the starting blocks, stop the remakes?

Aircraft Pictures and Dolphin Entertainment have just announced the imminent production of the remake of Youngblood, a cult gem from the Eigthies.

The original Youngblood film dates back to 1986 and its cast has remained at least as famous as him: Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves, who was then finding his very first role on screen. The film told the story of Dean Youngblood (Rob Lowe), a young hockey prodigy farmer who would do anything to become a national team player.

To do what ?

The remake (is it really necessary?) plans to give the leading role to an African-American actor. Filming is expected to begin early next year. Charles Officer (Akilla's Escape), himself a former professional hockey player, will direct the film written by Josh Epstein, Kyle Rideout and Seneca Aaron. Source: Variety
