The 6-episode mini-series The White Lotus, broadcast since July on OCS, is now available on DVD from Warner. It follows wealthy tourists taking a short week's vacation at a luxury resort in Hawaii.
This social satire turning into a thriller is written and directed by Mike White (Enlightened, Rock Academy). A hidden war will gradually oppose the too patient to be honest hosts of the White Lotus to their wealthy customers who, barely arrived, are already multiplying their whims.
Sure values and rising generation
In the credits, we also find sure values such as Alexandra Daddario (Why Women Kill, Baywatch), Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club, Treme, The Crossing), Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, Nashville, photo below) , the brilliant Jennifer Coolidge (Emmy for Best Supporting Actress without a limited series for The White Lotus) or Murray Bartlett (Emmy for Best Supporting Actor without a limited series for The White Lotus), but also some gems of the rising generation (Brittany O'Grady, Fred Hechinger, Jake Lacy, Sydney Sweeney).
Cruel gallery of luxury tourism
A cruel gallery of flawed characters and a scathing critique of luxury tourism in Hawaii, which sometimes hides a much darker reality for locals. But also a tone and a humor that we rarely see in light comedies. For lovers of quirky series.
