According to sources from TheLeak site, the lighter and thinner version of the PlayStation 5 - already at the center of many rumors - would arrive in the third quarter of 2023, with production scheduled for the second quarter.
PS5 Slim, more efficient and less heavy
The exterior of the console is expected to be vastly different from that of the original PS5, and Sony is reportedly using a die-shrink treatment to slim down this version. In concrete terms, this is either a finer etching process for processors or an optical reduction in the printing of chips on silicon. With this change in size would come a reduction in voltage, and therefore a lower temperature and lower consumption. Also, the console would no longer need support in the horizontal position.
PS5 Slim, cheaper?
What's more, a smaller machine would reduce storage and transport costs, a saving that would hopefully be reflected in the price of the console.
